Caramel Apple Chaos

I was asked to make caramel apples for my friends wedding. No problem. I knew it was going to be a small wedding and I had made them before. Well their small wedding turned into a 300 guests invited. Not only that.. what was I thinking making caramel apples in middle of July for and outdoor wedding. Needless to say, this was not a fun experience for me. Had they been favors for my wedding I would have thrown them in the trash. Maybe that is why they never made it to the tables. I decided to post pictures anyways!

Oreck Vacuum Giveaway

I have been seriously looking into getting a new vacuum and one of the brands I am looking at is Oreck. I am tired of pet hair and dander. With my little boy on the ground all the time I am even more aware of how gross my carpets are... even after I just vacuum. So when I saw the Oreck Halo Vacuum Giveaway over at Life in a House of Blue I was very excited. I might get lucky and win this awesome vacuum. So head on over and check it out!

TV Addiction

I have created a monster. My son, only 6 months old is obsessed with TV. I can't believe it. I am not a fan of TV, but I noticed recently that the TV is on all the time and it is hard to get Harrison's attention when he is eating. What have I done? I have only been at this for 6 months and I am officially a bad mommy.

Focus Friday #4

Focus Friday

Let's not talk about last week. Still have not made my dentist appointment.

Monday will be my first day back to work. I have been home with my little man for 10 weeks. It has been a wonderful 10 weeks and I am not excited about going back to work. I really thought after 10 weeks I would get bored. Well I was kept myself very busy and enjoyed spending time getting to know my little guy.

So my task for this week is to just survive. I will not freak out and make grandpa nervous. I will be strong. I will miss him so much. I tear up every time I think that I will not be with him all day and be able to comfort him.

I will survive!

Focus Friday #3

Focus Friday

Let's just say the week went by extremely quickly!(I'm posting this on Sunday. Where has the time gone?)

I still have not made that dentist appointment. Just so you know... its not just a matter of making a phone call. I am looking for a new dentist and I have to call my insurance company and find a dentist, then make the appointment.

I did stay home as much as I could this week though. I avoided unnecessary trips out and about. I tried to keep Harrison home and on a schedule. What do you know, he didn't seem to want to be on a schedule.

So my task for this week is keep track of Harrison's eating and sleeping. I go back to work in a week and I would like to be able to give Grandma and Grandpa a good idea of when he should be eating and sleeping.

I also have a super long to-do list which I would like to tackle.

If you would like to participate or read other bloggers Focus Friday Task head over to Thrifty Chic and check it out.

Focus Friday #2

Focus Friday

I sorta failed...

I did not call and make my husband I dentist appointments. Good thing I didn't because his schedule has changed and he wouldn't be able to go anyways. I will make the appointments first thing next week.

But... I did finish my Mommy Mission Statement and I think it turned out pretty good. Click HERE to ready it.

So my task for this next week is to stay home as much as possible(a difficult task) and work on getting my little boy on a schedule. I only have two weeks left before I go back to work and I would really like to tell Grandma and Grandpa exactly what his schedule is... so I make it...not them.

The Finished Mommy Mission Statement

As your Mother…

With your hand in mine and lead you in the right direction. With your fingers wrapped around mine, I will hold you up as you learn to walk.

My arms will warm you when you are cold and pick you up when you are sad. They will comfort you when you have had a bad day and embrace you through all your journeys.

I will listen to your many stories and ease your fears. My ears will hear the truths of your heart and soul.

My words will teach you right from wrong and encourage you as you try new things. They will share stories of the past and be honest and kind even during the tough times.

I will walk with you as you experience all that life has to offer. I will stand beside proudly as you grow and learn.

So as we begin this journey together I will love you with every part of my being and hold your dreams close to my heart.

Focus Friday

Focus Friday

My friend Kari at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy has made an attempt last week to participate in Focus Friday. She picked a task she would like to complete during the upcoming week.
I decided to play along in my head. I wasn't very successful...
So this week I decided to post it. I figure having some accountability would help me get my task done. I know I only have two readers but that's okay. Having it written means I have to answer to myself.

My task: Finish last weeks...write my "Mommy Mission Statement" and make my husband and I dentist appointments.

See you next Friday for an update.

My Take On It-Tuesdays

Kari at Giveaway Addicted Mommy has begun a bloggy carnival. She is doing "My Take On It-Tuesday's". So I have decided to play along. Her first topic... Jessica Simpson.
I have always liked Jessica Simpson. I think she is beautiful and entertaining, even though she's a little on the ditsy side. Unfortunately when she agreed to do a reality show she set herself up to be scrutinized, even if it was 4 years ago.
As for the recent comments about her weight game... oh how I wish I was so unlucky to be as "fat" as her. Its funny how one bad fashion choice turned her into a chunky monkey. Kate Moss would look as if she weight 100 lbs (as apposed to 85) in those pants.
So what have we learned from this... Just say "No" to high waist pants and reality shows.
That's MY Take On IT!

Shades of Green

So I took this quiz that I got from Kari at Giveaway Addicted Mommy. Her description sounds more like me than this one.

Your rainbow is strongly shaded green.

What is says about you: You are an intelligent person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

Tagged!

I hate being it. I was never good as the "It". But my dear friend Kari tagged me so now I have to play the game.
The rules of the game are to post the 6th picture in the 6th folder in my photo archives and then tag 6 people.
Well here's my photo...but I only know one person to tag... Tina at Mommy Scraps A lot.

This is one of those goofy pictures of my dad taking a picture of the photographer which I believe is my husband. It was taken during our anniversary party in July of '06. My dad is wonderful. He would do anything for me and makes me laugh more and more as he gets older. I am so lucky to have such a great dad!

A Good Day

Today was a a pretty good day with Harrison. He took three naps today... two were short, but there were three. He was only fussy during Jeopardy... his usual time. Bath time calms him down and then it is touch and go after that. Tonight my dear sweet husband got him to sleep at 8 o'clock. Bless his heart... but Harrison needs to eat and now he won't go down for bed easily. Oh well. Here's to another day... Love my boys.

Mommy Mission Statement

I am part of a new mothers support group called Mothers Embracing the Moment. So far it has been a wonderful group to be apart of. I have also joined MOPS and MOMS Club in my area and these groups have allowed me to connect with other moms near by, but Mothers Embracing the Moment has helped me to embrace every moment I am home with my little boy. I look at him a 100 times a day and think I am so lucky to have this time with him. He is a true blessing.
One of our assignments is to write a Mommy Mission Statement. What am I going to do for my son. What will I give him? The answer... Everything! What wouldn't I do or give for him. My mission this week is to put it into words so I can read it and live it today, tomorrow and years from now. I'm looking for inspiration to write a meaningful and honest mommy mission statement.

Doodlebug Dezigns Giveaway!

My best friend had her son Luke 7 weeks before my son Harrison was born. I thought for sure I would send out my announcements before her, since she sent the ones for her second son Jake when he was 7 months old. To my surprise a few weeks after Luke was born I got an adorable birth announcement in the mail. She ordered her announcements from Doodlebug Dezigns.
Well she is giving away a $25 gift certificate to Doodlebug Dezigns. So go to "A Giveaway Addicted Mommy" and check it out!

Welcome

So here it is! I finally decided on a theme for my blog. Not that a theme is necessary, but I'm kinda crazy like that. I wanted to find a way to talk about the stuff I enjoying...my little boy Harrison and cooking. My goal for this blog is to post about food, cooking with a baby, and of course my adorable son. Not sure how much time I will have, but I'll give it a shot. Hope you enjoy. Please be patient and wish me luck as I learn all the things that can be done to a blog.
